Shall I never see the outside again?

In the state of Pennsylvania in the USA a murder has taken place. The victim was the pregnant twenty six year old Kenzie Marie Houk, who was shot in the back of the head while she slept. A murder case is perhaps not the most unusual case we hear of from the united states, but this time the murderer was not the most common criminal. The person sitting on trial has not yet reached adulthood, and has not even lived long enough to become become a teenager. The eleven year old Jordan Brown risks the sentence of life time in prison, because the judge has decided he will not be judged in a courtroom for minors.

My opinion is that a child is not yet developed mentally until he or she has at least reached the age of fifteen, and should therefor be counted as mentally sick in these types of cases. A child is very easy to convince and influence, and has not yet learned right from wrong. However, a murder is a murder and should not go unpunished. But adults should be adults enough to treat kids as kids and rather teach them how to behave instead of punishing them for a crime they most likely had no control over! I believe that physical help and a youth camp would be the suitable punishment for Jordan Brown. Remember, this kid had easy access to the gun in his own house! What do you think? Should a eleven year old be judged by the same guidelines as an adult, and should the owner of the gun also be punished?

If this kid gets a life time in prison, it would be a huge mistake. I agree with you that an 11 year old boy are not developed enough to know what he was doing, and the following of it. He does not have to be mentally sick; anyhow he obviously has a big problem. At the age of 11 he should have a certain vision on what is right and what is wrong, but with the wrong growing up conditions, one can for sure misunderstand the line between wrong and right.

In addition to this, many other influences could have affected the boy to this action. He could get ideas from TV and computer games etc. and I hope that the boy weren’t clear of how bad the action was. If he were, he probably is mentally sick. He deserves to get some form for punishment, but not the same as an adult would get for the same crime. He shouldn’t be judged on the same conditions as an adult, he is after all a little boy. What he did, will follow him for the rest of his life, and that in it’s self is a bad punishment. I agree that the boy should be sent to some sort of camp as a part of the sentence. The owner of the gun should take some responsibility and feel guilty for what happened, but he shouldn’t get a huge punishment for owning a gun.

Obviously a eleven year old shouldnt't be given the same kind of punishment as an adult, even if it's as aweful as murder. I'm convinced that prison or anything in like that, would just make things worse. I'd rather see him in some phsyical camp or institution. Murder at the age of eleven is a horrible start of live, i belive that phsyical help is the only thing that could get him a decent future.

After what i'v seen alot of people in the US carry guns. The way i see it you can't punish the gun owner. Tho i think the owner deserves some punishment for not keeping the gun unreachable from the kid.
